Mumbai

Often referred as “the city of dreams”, Mumbai is a city that never sleeps. From jam-packed railway platforms to the famous Dabbawalas, multi-millionaires to suburban slums, the dazzling Bollywood to the quintessential vada pav, bhel puri, and sev puri, the uniqueness of Mumbai is beyond words.

Aurangabad

Also called the City of Gates, Aurangabad was named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It has many UNSECO World Heritage Sites including the Ajanta and Ellora Caves.

Maheshwar

Situated on the banks of river Narmada, Maheshwar appeals to both the pilgrim as well as the tourist. The famed fortress, long and well-documented history, rich traditions and beautiful temples in this treasure trove calms the soul.

Mandu

Existing since 6th Century BC, Mandu is home to numerous ancient Afghan architectural marvel. Perched along the Vindhya ranges at an altitude of 2,000 feet, each of Mandu’s structures is an architectural gem, like the massive Jami Masjid and Hoshang Shah’s Tomb, which is believed to be the inspiration for the master builders of the Taj Mahal.

Sanchi

Known for its Great Stupa, Sanchi believed to be the first monument to be erected in the third century BC. It is also one of the oldest stone structures in India and is considered one of the finest examples of Buddhist architecture and art, built by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka.

Bhimbetka

Known for its cave paintings dating back to approximately 30,000 years and a rich flora and fauna surrounding these, indeed, make Bhimbetka a gift to us from our earliest ancestors. Rock shelters that were home to humans, millennia ago is the oldest-known rock art in India, as well as is one of the largest prehistoric complexes to be seen.

Orchha

Exhibiting the wonderful Bundela-era legends, Orchha remains steadfast as the major historical site that has maintained the culture and legends of the rulers of the Bundela dynasty. Located on sleepy bank of Betwa river, this amazing town will fascinate with its historical places.

Gwalior

Gwalior has been the birthplace of many powerful dynasties. The city took on a new dimension as a result of the warrior kings, poets, artists, and saints who helped it become well-known across the nation with each new dynasty.

Itinerary

Arrive at Mumbai’s international airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, our representative will meet as you exit the arrivals terminal building and transfer you to your hotel. Meal Plan :N/A

Mumbai tour starts from the Gateway of India where the motor launch drops you back after the excursion to Elephanta Caves. Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George and Queen Mary to India in 1911. You will be then driven along Marine Drive, the sea - Front Boulevard. Next stop will be the Jain Temples, built of marble and dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankara. From the temples you will be driven along Malabar Hill via the Tower of Silence and Hanging Gardens which is built over Bombay’s reservoir. Drive to the Dhobi Ghats a huge open-air laundry, which makes an interesting viewing. Continue to Mani Bhawan (Gandhi Memorial), the house where the Father of the Nation stayed on his early visits to the city. The last stop before proceeding to the hotel is the Prince of Wales Museum (closed on Mondays) – gothic and Moorish architecture in the striking confluence of styles that came to be known as Indo Saracenic. Proceed for the sightseeing tour of Ellora Caves (closed on Tuesdays). Ellora caves are the finest example of cave temples; these 34 caves have intricate interiors and ornamental facades. Carved during the 350 AD and 700AD the rock temples and monasteries represent three faiths – Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. After your visit you will be driven back to Aurangabad where you will proceed to see Bibi – Ka – Maqbara. The monument is an excellent example of Persian Architecture and consider to be a poor imitation of Taj Mahal in Agra. Meal Plan :N/A

After breakfast, drive to Burhanpur. En-route visit Ajanta Caves. The Ajanta Caves (closed on Mondays) survived hundreds of years in the Sahyadri hills to tell the story of a rich and glorious past from 200 BC to 650 AD. Later, continue to Burhanpur. Meal Plan :N/A

Drive to Maheshwar - a historic temple town situated at the banks of the beautiful Narmada River, Maheswar in Madhya Pradesh is over flowing with its past glory.Later, visit Ahilyeshwar Temple on the banks of the beautiful river, Narmada.
